About Lori
Lori Payne is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has been working in the field of counseling in various roles (pre & post-licensure) for 10+ years. She is also a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor, overseeing the clinical work of counseling interns under her supervision. Lori is a native Texan with strong family ties and a love for her “furry children” (her dogs). She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Southern Methodist University and her Master of Arts degree from Texas Woman’s University. Lori enjoys working with teenagers and their families. She has a heart for meeting teens where they are, giving them hope, and making the counseling process fun. She also enjoys working with adults, families, and children ages 10-12. Lori is skilled in working with a wide array of issues life may present.
She has experience counseling individuals who are dealing with issues related to substance abuse, depression, anxiety, self-injury, anger management, family issues, adjustment disorders, self-esteem, as well as spiritual issues. Lori offers Christian counseling and believes counseling is a collaborative effort. Lori was trained in family systems therapy through her graduate studies and believes it is important to consider the whole “system” (whether that be family, friends, community, etc.) from which a person comes when engaging in the counseling process.
While counseling can at times be hard work, Lori also believes it’s important to find your joy and purpose through the journey you’re taking. We are each created for a purpose and have gifts and talents to put to use. Whether you’re 10 or 60, or somewhere in between, Lori is excited to share this journey with you!
